about me
My name is Roberto Cosenza (although somebody spells it wrong: Consenza, Conzenza, Consensa, Cozenza). I’m Italian. Currently I live just outside Stockholm. I’ve been living in Sweden since August 2001, when I attended an international course at KTH, Stockholm High School. There I completed a Master Thesis with the title SMS Gateway management.
Occupation: Senior Developer
Since 2003 I’ve been working at Infoflex Connect AB, a small Swedish company.
Incredibly, I get payed to do what I like most, i.e. do some web programming. I’m good in J2EE stuff, but there is much more to know, specially because I’m knowledge-thirsty. Infoflex is small, currently 5 people, but we have a lot of interesting work and I really enjoy working there. Lately I’ve been working with Rails and Ajax. I’m really fond of TDD (test driven development). I can’t work without my tests. I’m also very interested in software design: patterns and refactoring are daily stuff. I’m agile, I don’t say it just to sound hype as many do today.
Curriculum vitae
Download it here. You can find more updated info on my LinkedIn profile.
Where do I live
Since July ‘05 I live in Bergshamra. I own a 75 sqm flat very close to the “tunnelbana” (tube). It takes 12 minutes to Stockholm main station. Bergshamra is part of Solna and it is a small center build in the 60 (?), i guess. It is in between the two lakes, surrounded by bushes and very close to a small castle calls “Hulrikdalsslot”. Come and visit me!
Interests
In my life I have had many interests, some of them have been fading away, some have been more stable and some have come back after a long time. Here is a small list of what I spend most of my free time with.
Music
I’ve been playing and studying music since I was 4. My first instrument was the Sax (tenor) but I proudly owe a Selmer Bb clarinet which is always with me. Lately, my intrest in jazz music has grown to the point I started taking music lessons again. During my life I also have taken lessons in classic guitar, with scarce results, though! Sadly, I haven’t touched my instruments after my bike accident (yet!).
Computers
Yes, I think you may have already understood that I really like “playing” with computers. I think my passion started when I was very young. I was lucky enough to get a 8088 when I was about 10 and since then I’ve never been away from a PC. In December 2005 I switched to Mac buying a G5 with a 20″ cinema display. Around December 2006 I got a white Intel MacBook. I love it!
Nature
I come from the mountains. I think I get lonely when I don’t see mountains around me. My brother’s web site on the Pollino National Parks can show you what I’m talking about. I like dogs and cats, my parents have a bunch of them. I think I will get one, sooner or later.
Photography
I own a Nikon D70s… see my photo pages and comment it your self!
Sport
A easier variant of ice hockey, innebandy is my favorite sport. I’ve been playing it with a bunch of friends almost every Saturday since I moved to Sweden. You are free to join us in case you are around in Stockholm! Skiing is coooool, no more to say! See Bandydos
Traveling
My family is full of emigrants. My parents were living in Switzerland many years before I was born (my two elder brothers were born there) and I think I’ve been influenced by their stories about a foreign country all life long. As soon I had the opportunity I packed my luggage and left for the big, unknown World. In ‘95 I won an AFS scholarship and I moved to Denmark for a year. That experience changed my life deeper than anything else. It is also at the origin of my current experience in Sweden.
Future plans
I take a step at a time when I talk about the future. Here is a small brainstorm: I want to travel more. I want to visit India. I want to start my own business. I want to visit my friends around the world. I want to go on holidays in a warm place. I want to ski on the Alps. I want to buy a new saxophone. I want to see some live, good quality soccer. I want to visit my cousin in Argentina. More to come….
